Emili Losier, soprano

Finnish Canadian Soprano, Emili Losier’s ‘lyric voice mirrors her stage presence; extremely sweet and natural. She is a nature’s child... touching the heart from beginning to end’ (Cecelia Oines, Amfion.fi).

She debuted at the Savlonlinna Opera Festival in 2012 in a newly composed Finnish opera (La Fenice/Hakola), and other opera credits include roles such as: Pamina (Die Zauberflöte/Mozart), Musetta (La Boheme/Puccini), Susanna and Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro/Mozart), Zima (Les indes galantes/Rameau), the Foreign Woman (The Consul/Menotti), Lucy (The Telephone/Menotti), and Adele (Die Fledermaus/Strauss II). Emili is the recipient of the 2017 NATS senior scholarship, 2018 Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council grant, and the Marie-Claire Guindon/Robert Major voice scholarship and admission scholarship from the University of Ottawa. Emili won 2nd prize in the Lappeenranta Singing Competition in Finland and placed 4thon the award winning television broadcast opera competition ‘Bathroom Divas, so you want to be an opera singer?’

Ms. Losier continues to give solo concerts and works with orchestras within Canada and Finland, performing orchestral works such as: Mozart’s Exsultate jubilate, Händel’s Messiah, De Falla’s Siete canciones populares españolas, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Orff’s Carmina Burana and Saint-Saëns’ Christmas oratorio. Most notable is her work with the BBC symphony orchestra’s chief conductor Sakari Oramo and the award winning Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra. She has recently appeared in Ottawa as a soloist for the uOttawa Wind Orchestra, Ottawa Pops Orchestra and Chamberfest, and as an ensemble member at the National Arts Center.
