Simon Berniquez, born in Gatineau, Québec, began playing and performing classical guitar at the age of nine under the guidance of Denis Donegani, a former member of the Canadian Guitar Quartet. Simon achieved his Bachelor Of Music in Guitar Performance in April 2017 and continues to study with Patrick Roux, a former member of the Canadian Guitar Quartet and renowned classical guitar composer. Simon has performed for a multitude of internationally acclaimed guitar masters including: SoloDuo, Pavel Steidl, Marcyn Dylla, Ana Vidovic, Pepe Romero, and more.
Simon enjoys sharing his passion by instructing groups and private students. In May 2019 he will graduate with his Master Of Music degree in Guitar Performance from the University of Ottawa. He also coordinate and performs in a number of music projects in Gatineau and Ottawa. Simon Berniquez is an active performer on the Ottawa/Gatineau classical music scene. He performs as a soloist, as part of Duo d'Asyl with violonist Erik Joran Jon Johnson-Scherger and as part of Duo Voice and Guitar with soprano Emili Losier on the Ottawa/Gatineau classical music scene.
