Jenine Evans, collaborative pianist

Jenine Evans is an emerging pianist and experienced piano teacher in Ottawa, Canada. Jenine completed her Bachelor’s of Music in Piano Performance at the University of Ottawa in 2021.Jenine studied solo piano with Leopoldo Erice and Mauro Bertoli, and collaborative piano with Julien LeBlanc and Frédéric Lacroix. In 2019, Jenine was awarded the Gaston Héon Undergraduate Merit Scholarship in Music. In the following summer, Jenine took part in masterclasses with Roberto Plano and performed in Rovinj, Croatia and Bardonecchia, Italy.

From 2018 to 2020, Jenine played an important role in the launch of the Musicians’ Wellness Centre, an initiative based out of the Piano Pedagogy Research Laboratory at the University of Ottawa. As a co-creator and administrator, she helped bring education, research, and clinical care to musicians in Ottawa. Today, the Musicians’ Wellness Centre’s mission and resources have been integrated into the University of Ottawa’s Music and Health Research Institute.

In 2017, Jenine was introduced to playing the organ thanks to the Royal Canadian College of Organists’ Beginning Organ Student Scholarship.

Since 2015, Jenine has performed in several concerts with the Ottawa Pops Orchestra as a keyboardist and percussionist. Her most memorable performance was in 2018 when she played as the soloist in Joe Hisaishi’s “One Summer’s Day” for piano and orchestra.

Jenine is equally as passionate teaching piano as she is performing. She currently teaches 25students of a wide range of ages and levels, in English and in French. Jenine teaches online and in-person from her studio in Ottawa.

Jenine has a special interest in collaborative piano repertoire. She is excited to be starting a master’s degree in collaborative piano this fall.
